Susan Watson
Susan Watson Johnston is a devoted Tennessean whose life has been marked by unwavering family values, quiet resilience, and a deep commitment to honoring service. A proud graduate of Haywood High School in Brownsville, Tennessee, Susan later attended Lambuth University, where she cultivated her passion for education, community, and faith.
Born into a close-knit family anchored in small-town values, Susan is the daughter of Robert Keith Johnston and Beverley Johnston. Her life and legacy are profoundly shaped by the sacrifice of her brother, Richard K. Johnston, a U.S. serviceman who was killed in action in Vietnam in August of 1970. As a Gold Star sister, Susan has carried his memory with grace, humility, and an enduring sense of purpose—ensuring his story is never forgotten.
Susan eventually made her home in Memphis, Tennessee, where she remains connected to a strong network of family, church, and alumni communities. Her love for learning and quiet leadership have touched the lives of those around her—whether through church outreach, school involvement, or simply offering support to others walking a path shaped by sacrifice.
